John Searle on Intention and Meaning

Listening to Searle talking from 22 minutes 11 seconds on the importance of intention in determining the meaning of an utterance, ... well, it's pretty obvious isn't it, at least once it's been pointed out to one like this. But when, or if, you listen to him, you see the futility of attempting to do public service in secret. Any body who attempted such a foolish thing would very rapidly disappear into a quagmire of meaningless, insane and criminal acts.
