How To Be A Genius
The trick is just to look at things in a different context. The more rigid the structure of the intellectual landscape the easier it is to do this, because in rigid intellectual structures all ideas "have their place". For example, Neural Networks are part of AI, so you don't often hear about them in maths courses dealing with vector calculus, and Boolean propositional logic is part of mathematical logic, so you don't often hear about propositional logic and vector spaces. But these boundaries between fields of study are arbitrary. This is not the only way to group different parts of mathematics together: it's simply an accident of the historic development of these ideas that they ended up being arranged like this. For example, in Boole's book The Laws of Thought, he was treating pobabilistic and propositional reasoning in the same framework. So watch the following and try to imagine ways in which the different techniques described here could be unified in some framework which would allow them to be used together. If I am right, then you should be able to come up with some ingenious new solution to an old problem.
