Hannah Fry on Sample Bias

I saw this weeks ago, but didn't watch it because I thought it wasn't about maths, even though I knew it was a Numberphile video. Isn't that weird?! I think it was because I was thinking (1) This is about Hollywood, and (2) Hollywood never makes good movies about maths, ergo, this video is not going to tell me anything I don't already know. How wrong I was! Because this video was not made in Hollywood, was it?!

This is an interesting discussion. What most people don't realise is that capitalism as we practice it now wastes 99.9% of the human and material resources we currently use. Once you realise that, the problems raised by the idea of gift or resource-based economies become much more tractable. He will presumably say that this is human nature and because it is genetically determined, nothing we can do short of a programme of eugenics and euthenasia will change that.
